Haumai Human beings in their natural, as opposed to their liberated form, are subject to the impulse of haumai. It is difficult to define the meaning of the term as used by Guru Nanak but a beginning might be made by noting that the literal meaning is ‘I-I’, hau-main. The word is used in both a spiritual and ethical sense so that ‘pride’ and ‘self-centredness’ may sometimes be used as appropriate translations. The consequence of haumai is that one is self-willed (manmukh) as opposed to being obedient to the Word of the Sat Guru (gurmukh).

Darshan is also employed to refer to the six orthodox Hindu philosophical systems. Dasam Granth The collection of writings attributed to Guru Gobind Singh and collected by Bhai Mani Singh.
